Just bought my first replacement set of OEM AS tires at 26,000 miles, the rears were down to 1/32 on the inside and 3/32 on the outsides. The Michelin rep at the bash said its the factory negative camber setting and if not tracking can zero the camber for more tire life. What do you think?

Alignments are all about tradeoffs. Zero camber is not going to be the best for handling, but will maximize your treadlife (same with zeroing the toe). I'd suggest asking your alignment tech to shoot for the least aggressive settings within the factory spec range if you're trying to stretch a little more life from your tires, but don't want to entirely give up on the handling dynamics of the car.

The 9080 has the limited slip diff in there as well. So, there's 1 fluid that has to lubricate clutch, gears, diff and also provide hydraulic actuation if I am not mistaken, way too many functions for a single fluid. The diff may be what is killing the fluid early. I don't know if any of the other transmissions you mentioned use a single fluid that has to perform so many functions.

I wouldn't think the LSD friction plates would be much more of a challenge once you've got wet DCT clutch friction plates that you have to deal with. It seems strange that you could find DCT clutch friction material that didn't require time based fluid replacement but could only use LSD friction material that required time based replacement. And one of the interesting things about the 9080 is it doesn't have hypoid gears for the R&P. Usually the challenge is to find a fluid that can hold up to the sliding contact of hypoid gears yet is good for the rest of the transaxle. But the 9080 uses a spiral cut R&P which has rolling contact, not sliding contact. So all the gears in the 9080 are rolling contact.
It isn't uncommon for transaxles to have LSDs and share the same fluid with the transmission. And it isn't uncommon for DCT transaxles to share the same fluid with the differential. While I can't think of DCT transaxles that have LSDs and share the same fluid I bet they are out there.

My question re DCT fluid change interval post #9 of this thread got 5 (five) Likes. I think that is the most for any question posted (so obviously the most concern) but never got asked. Although where do you plug in to charge an Eray and a questions about whether eray is faster than Z6 got asked.
My guess is the trinity gets to pre-screen the questions and did not like this one.

I will wait for any response before I question the podcast integrity.

Short of a transcript, can we get a timestamp for when and what questions from this thread are answered? I skimmed through it between calls and didn't immediately hear anything about the DCT/valve body issues we brought up.

Examples:

Audi R8 DCT fluid interval 40,000 miles not date based?
BMW M3,E90, E92 DCT fluid is Lifetime but some recommend 50,000 miles
Porsche 997.1 PDK fluid is 60,000 miles or 6 years.
VW DSG fluid change 40,000 miles not date based.
Ferrari 458 Lifetime?
McLaren 12C 40,000 miles and not date based.

While I make no comment regarding the "integrity" I thought the question (why is it time based) is good, and wish it was included. And, I do not know the answer. There is at least one vehicle, the 2021 Maserati MC20 that uses the same Tremec 8 speed transmission. It calls for TITAN FFL-4 FUCHS in the Owner's Manual. And, it calls for fluid replacement every 4 years or 37280 miles, according to the tables in the manual. And, the Delco bottle includes a warning to shake it fully before putting it in the car, and it also has a 3 year shelf life. Some have speculated that the shaking has to do with mixing the additive package (don't know why it would not get shaken up in the transmission) and that the additive package deteriorates with time. The MC20 also calls for replacement of the DCT filter every year or every 9320, much more often than the C8.

Again making no comment on their integrity, I do think that when they answer questions they are guided by and must adhere to corporate policy. I think we are fortunate that we get to hear from them at all, and while there may be constraints, their responses seem fairly genuine to me.

The host platform for CORVETTE TODAY is Adore Labs. I think they offer a transcript of each show.

I scanned all of the threads that were used to promote this show...C8 General, C8 Z06 and C8 E-Ray. All questions came from these 3 threads.

Thank you, Andy. I'm not sure why the integrity of the show is being questioned whatsoever.

Simple: You asked this forum for questions and created this thread. Post #9 regarding DCT fluid life got the MOST Likes (Five) on this forum from contributors.
billclerm (04-06-2024),buck fever (04-11-2024),DerbyCity (04-02-2024),JimB. (04-02-2024), RKCRLR (04-02-2024). Six, if you include Andy who did not click like but posts "wish it was included." So with 7 interested members ...

It would seems to me that a question that got the most interest should be asked. So a simple question: Why was the question re DCT fluid life not asked?

Since my name came up, although I said I was interested in the answer, I made no comment about where that question ranked with respect to the questions selected, nor the numerous question for which there was not time to include. And certainly made no negative comments about the selection process. I was very happy with the show.

@gdb069 Since you answered and quoted my question about the integrity of the show, this afternoon I reached out to Chief Engineer, Josh Holder and asked him Question #9....just for you (and obviously everyone else)!

Here is Josh's response.... "The fluid needs to be changed after 3 years because the anti-foaming agents will break down and the fluid will absorb some moisture. All service recommendations are for good reason ."

Should you choose to question that or not change your fluid, I wish you luck.

Thanks for doing that Steve. I guess one of our questions should have been is "Ask Tadge" going to resume with "Ask Josh"? It would be nice to have a resource for technical questions again.
