Tires For Track
Hi All,
I track a 2017 Z06 approx. 8 - 10 times per year. I love the Mich Cup 2's but man have they gotten expensive (as with most things). I'd love some recommendations for comparable tires which might be somewhat less expensive.
I just priced 4 tires on tirerack and the cost is in excess of $2,500. I'd rather not change the size of my wheels so I'm looking for options in the 19" & 20" sizes.
Thanks.

With those tire sizes you really only have one good option. Actually it's a great option. If 20 rear 325 30 20 and 19 front 305 30 19 nankang crs. Order from a supplier that goes through stock so tire rack or Phil's tire. Otherwise possible to get the older version. 23 year tires or newer. No good race tire is cheap but the crs will be faster than cup 2 and last longer. Cheaper too.

I'm running the same tire and sizes and I am thoroughly impressed! After running a bunch of other tires on track the CR-S v2 are now my go-to for a true dual purpose street/track tire. They have the best balance of pace and endurance and while they're not great in the wet, you can still get around the track on them. I managed to run a PB on the 20th heat cycle and several hundred street miles. They're not optimal with that many cycles and wear, but they are still hanging in. I previously ran the Nankang AR-1 and they are GREAT the first 5-6, ok up to ~10 but after 15 they're about worthless and they are scary in the wet and they howl with road noise. The CR-S need a good lap or two to wake up but they are much more consistent than the AR-1 and they live a LOT longer and are silent on the street.
Only downside is these sizes have been on backorder due to container issues for months..

The only thing AR-1 have going for them is they need almost no warmup. They're pretty much ready to rip on the out lap. However, I had a very difficult time managing pressures -- even starting at 24-25 cold they would climb to 35-36 by the end of the session. CR-S take longer to warm up but they are much more stable throughout the session.
