Default Squeaking…

I bought my C8 brand new a couple of months ago and now it’s making these weird squeaking noises from behind, what could it possibly be??? Anyone else experience this???

Can be heard @ 0:14, 0:16, 0:21, and 0:49

All I hear in the clip is the exhaust and tire/road noise. Perhaps you’re hearing the injectors, which sounds like a sewing machine…

I've seen a number of later Vettes' seat springs squeak once in a while.

Need a better audio file. No cars passing, windows closed?
I did hear squeak. Maybe chirp, like a bird.

My C7 had the same issue right off the truck. Drove me and the service tech nuts.

Then an old Corvette guy told us to use the silicone lube on all the weather stripping and violá... no more squeaking.

Mine (HTC) made a hellish squeak that turned out to be the rear window. A little lube on the gasket solved it.

Turn it up all the way, you kinda have to listen in carefully since it’s coming from outside, it’s a high pitched squeak

Hmm… I wonder if it’s the same for the C8…

Sounds like an easy fix

Any silicone lube on the rubber gaskets. (Doors, remove top, rear truck hatch)
Call me crazy but I have been using WD40 on my fan belts for 40 years. You can spray it on not running so it doesn't get blown all over.
Is the noise tied to the engine rpm or is it related to motion, bumps?
Good luck.

I heard the squeak at the times indicated. Does not sound so much like the weatherstip squeak. What it does sound like is the occasional squeak my muffler cylinder deactivation exhaust flow control valves make when they transition between V4 and V8 mode. And also, with NPP, the tailpipe flow control valves will open and close depending on the Driver Mode and throttle demand. In Tour they are closed at idle an benign driving but twill open with spirited driving. With Sport the are open at idle and most driving scenarios. With Track they open nearly all the time. But even in Sport of Track, they will close at times to meet Federal Bypass Standard. The point is, those valves can open and close during normal driving, and if they squeak, which mine do from time to time. you can hear it.

I think you can test it (if you have NPP) Just sit in the driveway with the engine running and idling. Switch the drive mode between Tour and Sport. See if you hear the valves move or squeak. If you dont have NPP, the other AFM valves in the muffler could be the ones that squeak.

In fact as part of ongoing maintenance it is recommended to use a silicon based gasket lube......been the same on Vettes for generations.

Think it's just motion, rpm doesn't really affect it.

I'll test this theory out tomorrow, but I doubt this is what it is since the exhaust's always in track and it happens way too often.

I'd try a set of chassis ears which allow you to place microphones at various locations to isolate the noise. They make wireless and wired models.
