ZR1 Powertrain predictions

Motor Trend ZR1 article today says twin turbo plus E-Ray system...
I'm at work so can't link it atm.
Maybe fluff piece, maybe not...
But if true, then GM done good. 1000 combined hp or bust.

2020 C6 of the Year Winner - Modified
So I get a call today from a dealers Z06/ZR1 list that I am on...he said he was at corvette training class, and there was talk that the ZR1 with have the Z06 motor, with front electric assist. I told him I heard twin turbo. He said, they may add that too. Of course nothing official till we hear it from GM...lol

Some thoughts:
1. The test mules we've seen don't have the front cooling brick on the driver side that the eRay has.
2. An acquaintance at VIR who "knows a guy" (everyone knows a guy) says things are up in the air between the ZR1/Zora and what the cars were originally supposed to be may be revised. I.e. maybe they release 1 car and not a ZR1 and a Zora?
3. The mules clearly have a revised inlet in the boomerang tail and an inlet on the hatch. If it was a LT6 w/ eAWD they wouldn't need any of that.

I don think there is going to be a Zora this C8 Generation. I think the ZR1 is going to be the beast for now.. Cant wait till It comes out, mainly to quiet all the eRay owners... lol

What if the C9s are referred to as zoras and not stingrays

C7ZR1 was 755hp, no?
ZR1 will be over 900hp, FPC..
#173
HP unknown. I said under 800hp if there is a ZORA.
But in the end i don't care since i'm not getting the car. I got the trifecta for the z06 right so....
#174
No way the C8ZR1 is under 800hp.. Like I said already, 900+, FPC..

I'm really not sure why you are not getting the credit you deserve for these predictions. It is extremely difficult to predict these things and I don't think anyone knows just how hard it is to actually pull off a trifecta on a completely new generation of Corvette.

Oh you know, you're not "new" here
Don't forget people also said, "no way the z06 is going to cost more than 85-89k".
"no way the z06 can making more power than the outgoing z06 in NA. A big displacement FPC can't be done"
"the z06 will be twin turbo making 700hp+."
And look at what we got.
It might be different than the ZR1 but the question is, WILL GM put out such a beast. It's not a question on are they capable of doing it. The question is, WILL THEY?

I want to be excited for this new ZR1, but man a two ton Corvette. Sheesh.

Curious on this one and how much it’ll weigh, as most would scoff at only a 69 hp increase over the Z06 if the ZR1 had that power and rpm range. If the new ZR was everything that new Lambo was going to be, including an undoubtedly lower weight than 3700lbs at a Chevy price, would people still complain?
