Oil change; will front angle of car make a difference?
I have a 04 Z06 CE and tomorrow I will be changing the oil. I have always taken the car to a trusted shop but I will be doing the change for the first time on my own.
The drain plug is on the front of the oil pan so my concern is if I will be able to get the proper amount of oil out of the engine?. I plan on jacking up the front of the car and worry that the angle of the car will mean that too much oil will be left over and not drain properly?
Any worries here or any tricks to follow?

My Vet is not a daily driver and I only put on about 2,500 miles per year on my car. I change my oil every year and I don't jack up the rear so that leaves about half a quart of the old oil in there. I don't see that as a problem with so few miles on the oil each time it is changed.

My C-5 is a bit lower than the "factory setting", so I need to get it up on ramps, in order to change the oil, but even at that point, I still need to jack up the front, a bit, to be able to comfortably reach the oil drain plug, as well as get the drain pan in place. So, I initially raise the front of the car, but as soon as I have the drain plug out, I lower the jack, and if I'm really ambitious, I'll swing the jack around to the back of the car and raise it a bit, just to aid in fully draining the oil pan. When fully drained, the jack goes back under the front, so I can finish the job.

I always ran the C5 up ramps to change the oil. Once I had the drain plug out I used a floor jack to raise the rear until the car was level. Kept it that way for maybe 10 minutes, then reversed the process.

I have a Quick Jack set-up with the pinch weld rubber blocks. I put the rubber pinch weld block on the slot on the rear "tray" of the QJ and that slightly raises the rear end an inch or so. I then let it drain for a beer or cup of coffee depending on the time of the day. Seems to work in my two years of Corvette experience. Before the QJ is used jacks and stands for the same effect. 1st oil change I had the nose slightly elevated and did not get the oil out and thus slightly over filled the pan. I'm guessing that if you had some kind of ramp set up ( "race ramps") that you'd raise the front and never get all the oil out.

I raise the front with Rhino Ramps.
I am sure that the little bit of oil left in the pan is so small that it makes no difference at all.
Still, I pick up the rear with a motorcycle jack and get it all out...

This is what I've done for 18 years. Just be careful where you place the floor jack to lift the car. Also, be careful how high you lift the car. I put mine on ramps but chock the back tires so it won't roll off (safety first). When jacking the car up to get it level, don't lift too high and take the load off the chock block.
