Default '89 L98 cranking but no start

Was driving the car all last year with no issues then during the colder months did not start her up for a few months and the battery died out. After replacing the battery the car will not start. It cranks but won't start up. So far have changed out the spark plugs, new fuel filter, bypassed VATS (originally was hoping this was the problem). Just recently was inspecting the fuel injectors, the injectors and the injector harness are reading 0 ohms for all 8.. any clue why this would be happening? Would assume the harness at least would be giving me some reading.

Also, directly after changing out the battery did try using ether down the air intake and with that it did fire up for just a second.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Are you checking each injector with the harness unplugged ?
with all injector plugs unplugged does a noid light blink ?

Yeah, checked each injector and injector harness seperately. 0 ohms for both and for all. No noid light blinking as well.

With all injectors unplugged the injector driver should work. Shorted out injectors can shut down the driver. Are you sure your com is on the right scale ?
is ecm powered up , fuel pump primes and mil comes on before cranking ?

multi meter is set to 20 ohms. is there a specific way to test the ecm? all electronics work, dashboard lights up and all lights work. fuel pump does prime. and excuse my ignorance but what is a mil?

Mil is malfunction indicator lamp or also called cars service engine soon . Your on 20,000 or 2k on the ohm setting. Way to high of a scale .
try the 200 ohm setting.

Dispute having spark it could be a bad icm, what method was used to bypass vats. 3 ways to try to defeat it .

thank you for that! got new readings and the harness now has some reading and all 8 injectors reading ~14.5 each. could it possibly be fuel pump related? the valve on the fuel rail seems very low psi, i don't have a guage to test though.

tested the pellet on the key which read 6.04 ohms and then grabbed the VATS bypass kit and used the appropriate capacitor for the bypass.

if you don’t have injector pulse it probably won’t be the pump

cap ? That’s not right. If you’re bypassing the key reader you need a resistor not capacitor. Or a hz modulator or get a chip without vats.

oh right, my apologies it is a resistor, wrong verbage. when soldered to the harness it reads the same as the key pellet
