Melting Slicks
Rory, There are experts here that are able to give you the correct answer. There are numerous places a diff can leak. Maybe a picture or a much better definition of where the leak is would help. With the info you gave nobody could give you an answer. Dan

Having gone through this, I can make 3 observations:
1) Make sure the leak is not running back from the pinion seal
2) The cover bolts are threaded into the aluminum case and can strip, requiring a thread repair
3) Do not use a gasket; use the correct Permatex sealant that is compatible with the limited slip additive in the oil and make sure you also smear a little on the bearing blocks.

The leak is between the differential housing and the suspension mount (batwing).
I have used the correct Permatex sealant with great care; dismantled all the parts, did it outside the car and applied the correct troque, but for my surprise is leaking again. The good result only lasted one or two days..
Thanks.
