Extended warranty

I know that I have saved thousands by not purchasing extended warranties on anything that I own. A company that sells warranties on cars or washing machines are just like the casinos in Las Vegas They are in biasness to make money.. You loose they win.

In most cases, almost all cases… I refuse extended warranties…. Extended warranties on a $200 or $500 or $2,000 item don’t make sense because you’re usually paying 20% or 30% or more for the item all in… however as the C8 warranty was 1.7% more it was worth it to me for the piece of mind that if something goes wrong I love the freedom of walking into the dealer, handing them the keys and saying… let me know when it’s ready. I don’t need them to call with an estimate, or review everything to make sure I agree it’s necessary… none of that. It’s under warranty, fix it, call me when it’s ready. 😎

I have been paying car and house insurance for 45 years to your point and I've lost a lot of money there. I bought an extended warranty on my 2015 C7 from Dennis Fitchner. One month after my 3/36 GM warranty ran out I was at a gas station and the gas door wouldn't open. I drove the C7 straight to the dealership, they called and got approval for the repair, and sent me home with a loaner because they didn't have the actuator that had gone bad in the gas door. That one repair almost paid for the warranty. When I sold the C7 in 2019 I was the only person on eBay Motors selling a C7 with a two year warranty that I could transfer to the new owner. It sold in 11 days and I got exactly what I was asking for it.

My thoughts are that the complexity of the C8 leaves the shade tree mechanics like me scratching our heads. This will be the first car I will get an extended warranty.
I'm too old to climb into the engine bay and figure it out. I'm too fat to walk 20 miles to the next Chevy dealership lol.
And married too long to hear it from the wife.

2022 C8 of the Year Finalist - Modified
I have never purchased the extended warranty on any of my new cars in the past but I intend to get one for my C8 a few months before the B2B expires. Repairs are just too frequent and too expensive to take a chance (IMO).
