I'm installing 18"X9" wheels on my C3 vette with 275/40R-18 tires. Don't know much about these types of tires and could use some input. This is strictly a street car, no autocross, track or drag racing. I have made some significant suspension up grades and am running a 500 HP 406 small block. I live in Houston where it stays pretty warm most of the year. Hardly ever goes below freezing. I avoid driving in the rain but it happens from time to time. I don't drive very fast - you will never see me over 120 MPH so the tire does do not have to be "Z" rated though the tires I have listed below are all "Z: rated. I was thinking some of the less expensive brands like:
Falken GR Beta FK-451
Kumho Ecsta ASX
Nitto NT 555 Extreme performance
Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S
Based on where and when you drive, why are you including a M+S tire
and an all season tire?
Those tires have more aggressive tread paterns that generally increase heat in the tire and trade off wet or snow traction for dry traction and cornering. I would stick with a Performance tire.
I've had the Pirelli's before, good tire but poor wear.
A fellow Corvette Club member has the Kumho MX's and aboslutely loves them.
I'm running GoodYear F1 GS-D3 and would not trade them for anything
