Default Best Z06 Sized Street Tires for Autocrossing??

The original F-1 SCs on my Z06 look like they will need replacement in the near future. Overall I have been happy with the tires, my main complaint is that I cannot hook up well at the rear.

I autocross the car at least once a month and was wondering if there is a street tire that is an improvement. I do not drive the car in the rain. I was contemplating getting some dedicated track wheels and tires but would rather not deal with having to get a trailer.

The main tire that comes to mind is the BFG G-Force KD. People also mention that Nitto 550 Extremes, but I don not know how these will work on the street. If anyone has thoughts on how these tires or any others perform compared to the Goodyears I would appreciate it.

Thanks

I have the KD's on the rear of my ZR-1 and they are great DRY tires. They make life VERY interesting in the rain

I think Kumho is making an all season tire in the MX compound, something like an AMX. A couple of the guys are running them on C5's but not sure if they make em in Z06 rear size or not.

Check Tirerack or give them a call. Hope this helps

I have the same dilemma.

The Toyo RA-1 and the Michelin Pilot Sports Cup will be superior, but they won't last as long as the OEM tires. You won't want to drive either in the rain of the winter. The KDs will last as long, might be better than OEM, but won't be as good as the Toyos or Michelins for stickiness. Ditto the Kumho MX.

I keep coming back to the RA-1 as the most sensible choice.

Do people actually run the RA-1s or Sport Cups on the street? I guess my main concern would be rock kick up. Premature wear would be a problem, but if I could get close to 10K miles out of them I could live with that.

I really don't see what the problem would be running the Toyo RA-1 on the street whould be. I run them shaved for dry and unshaved for wet.
One of the best wet combinations I have found.
