Widest tire on 17 x 9.5?

What's the widest tire I can put on a 17 x 9.5 rim on a C4 (1990), both front and rear, without rubbing, etc.....Oh, and I don't mind running different sizes on the F and R......

Oh, and while I'm asking questions...what is the stock wheel size on a 1990?

I have seen 315s on 9.5" rims, and it don't look too great... 285s is the widest I would go.
