Sorry but I can't answer your question. I have a question. Are you currently using these tires? If so do you like them? When I club race I use Yokohama AO32R-H. With these tires I can drive to and from the Track. They work okay but are real loud. If I had a trailer I would run the Hoosiers R3SO3 which I ran on a ITA RX7 I used to have.
I have over 8500 miles on them now and they are due for replacement. Cut 5 seconds a lap with just a tire change from 275/315 Michelin Pilots Sports to these 275 Nittos.
I drive them everyday to work, etc and toward their end of useful lives they are starting to get little slick (30 degree temps have something to do with that) and will follow ruts like a demon. When newer-not a problem.
Discount Tire has them for $161 shipped...I will be buying more, but wish I could run the proper 315 on the rear....:(
I just received an email from Discount Tire, Nitto is not going to make them after hearing for last year that they were on the way in that size...:(
NoGo,
Do the Nittos warm up quick. I'm getting some R-compounds for autox. Right noww I'm looking at Victoracers. But the price on the Nittos seems comparable. I'll also have to drive to events for the time being. Good or bad idea? I have regular street tires/rims for daily driving.
Thanks, Graham
Well, not sure if I can honestly answer that question-not enough experience. I have done autocross events with these tires and done very well (FTD) when previously I would finish only midpack (overall) on set of larger Michelin Pilot Sports (fresh).
They are definitely more streetable than the Kumhos...for instance the only time I pick up debris at all is after doing a burnout/autocross run/or coming off the racetrack. Otherwise normal tire.
I'm surprised more people don't run them, but Kumho still seems to the first pick for track only tires.
I have 8500 miles on these...90% street miles to and from work...15 hour trip to Alabama and back, etc.
Tread wear is 100...cost is $161 each delivered from Discount Tire...:)
Thanks NoGo. Definetely provides an alternative to the Victoracer. I looked at them on Nittos website and what is kind of amusing is that the tire looks very similar to a Kumho MX. Too similar ;) I've got the MXs on the car now and ran them this year (1st year) and they are fine for the price. I've been told the Victoracers are scary on the road in the wet once they start to wear so I'm not thrilled about driving them to events 100 miles away and getting caught in the rain...

Little frustrating that folks mix up DRAG RADIALS with ROADRACING tires...:)
Drag radials are for sale in the add-they are 555R's.
Nitto Roadracing tires are 555 II R's. Only 3 sizes are offered-C5 sizes and a 275/40-17. I wish it wasn't so, but I will probably get 275's and be happy.
Yeah I followed that link and noticed that they were the Drag Racing ones. Their prices still can't beat Discount Tire Direct. You were right NoGo. $161 each shipped to my installer. Even their website shows the 555R only. But they have the Road Race version. Vettefast. You have to order NITTO NT 555R II EXTREME like NoGo mentioned.
I'm definetely considering these now and skipping the trailer for this year, or at least the beginning of the season. With the 100 treadwear rating they should last a little while. Hopefully a season... The other upside is the tread is symmetric so you can flip these where you can't really do that with Victoracers. It'll be fun either way trying R compounds :steering:
Hey No Go,
I'm going to order them next month. Have a question for ya.
What tire pressure cold/hot are you running for autox front/rear?
Thanks, Graham

Re: Nitto 555IIR in 315/35-17 Size? (vms4evr)
I called Discount Tire Direct about the larger RII and found that the next tire in the RII will be a 305/35-18 - I was thinking the 275/40-17 and the 305/35-18 would be a great combo. He said it was in his computer but there was no price or definate availability date.
I just bought 4 ZO6 rims 17x9.5 and 18x10.5 with a 56mm backspace on all. I also called discount tire and I think I am going to get the 285's for the rears and 275's for the fronts. Do you know if the 305's would fit on a 1992?
Also these rims I purchased were only $570.00 brand new from O E Wheel Distributors. The finish is guaranteed for 1 year and the Rim itself for life.
I know this price is cheap for the rims-but I decided to take a chance that they are okay.
