F1 Super Car Tires

In the first edition of Corvette Enthusiast mag, they ran a article on the these tires stating that these tires could only be patch once before they are no longer good. Could someone please comment further for this meaning the tire losing its rating or balancing, or BS? Thanks

If properly done I see no reason why a couple of repairs would be a problem

I have two patches in one rear tire. No problems and I have made a couple blasts to 130mph.
