Default better for track...335 pilots or 295 drag radials??

i am putting on a super charger and plan to drag race a few times a year. i am currently running 295/35/18 kuhmo mx's. should i keep the kuhmos and put 295/35/18 drag radials on my old rims for race days or get new rims with 335/30/18 michelin pilot sports for everyday and track??

thanks

After I supercharged my car I began looking at this same issue; hands down the forum consensus is drag radials will way outperform the 335 pilots. Indeed, on just the track, there are a lot of folks having success with 275 BFG DRs rather than 295. Right now I'm on the search for some really cheap 18" beater wheels, at which point I'll probably go with the 295/35/18s. Good luck. :seeya

thanks guys for the responces. i thought dr's would be way better but i hoped that the 335's would be o.k. because it's really a hassle changing wheels at the track.

Did the same thing but the 335 can not handle the power at the track, better than the runflats but not as good as DRs. Will go to DRs soon although I too hate to have to change tires.

Glad I stumbled across this thread. I need a set of tires for the rear of my C4 strictly for street use and perhaps some abnormal driving. At 594rwhp the stock units are worthless. A friend recommended a set of Pilot Sports. I'm cringing at the cost. However, if they will do the job and not break loose at half throttle so be it. Traction for drag racing is'nt important. Any advice will be appreciated.

I do not think you'll find a tire that will not break loose with 594rwhp. Anything more that 1/4 throttle from a complete stop and the tires "light up" (3.73 rear dif).

I have Michelin Pilots 335/30/18 on CCW 18x11.5 and I went to the track last night and can confirm that they are a POS.....NO traction with more than 1/4 throttle....

Do yourself a favor and purchase a pair of DR's for the track.

Up until this year (past 5 years), Ive been driving on Drag radials full time. My Nittos would always get me about 10-12k so I was ok with that. Now I run BFG GForce drags and the 1st set got about 6k. Yea..changing tires can suck...but do at at home and put a few miles on the drags...wont hurt. 335's look great, and they definitly hook better than the stock runflats...but you cant even compare a street tire with a drag radial.
