Default Looking to upgrade from good'ol Performer GT 225 70 R 15

1970 350ci worked a bit and pushing 400hp

I'm getting into auto cross, so I'm looking for a performance "sticky" tire. I'm not married to the idea of keeping the stock geometry... If anyone has a workable plan to stick a 400hp C3 to the black top, I would certainly appreciate it. It just kills me to see a 150hp Honda come in 6 seconds faster.

I would at least step up to the 255/60-15 tire size, and get a good "performance oriented" wheel alignment. You could also add a rear sway bar, they're available from 'Vette Brakes and Products.

And, if you still have a steel rear spring, I highly recommend a fiberglass unit, also from VBP. It will make a world of difference in ride comfort.

The only 255/60, which could even remotely be called a "performance tire" is the Pirelli Scopion, which was designed for the old Lamborghini LM002. All other 255/60s have "S" speed ratings and rock hard compounds. Some of the best tires for older 15" wheel Corvettes are the currently available police pursuit tires - Firstone Firehawk PV41, Goodyear Eagle RSA, and General XP2000V4, which are V-rated, available in the225/70R-15 size, and carry wear ratings from 260-340. That's as good as it gets in 15" nowadays.

If your rules permit you will have to go to a 16 or 17 inch wheels to get real stickly autocross rubber.

I would find a suitable 16x8 wheel and run a 245/50-16 if you want to run an aggressive street tire or just get a 245/50-15 Hoosier A3s03
