Default AVS vs EMT

Can anyone tell me of they have tried the Yokohama AVS Sport Run Flats. I am trying to choose between the Goodyear EMT (Original Tires) or the AVS. Its for a 2001 C5. They cost the same so there is no significant issue there, want to know what handles the best and will last longer. Any comments or recommendations will be appreciated. Want to continue with the runs flats. Less worries. Thanks

Have them on the rear..........soon on the front. IMHO, I would buy the Yokos or the Kumhos when they come out soon. :yesnod:

Kumho introduces run-flat version of ECSTA MX

FONTANA, CA…November 20, 2002"KUMHO Tire USA will introduce a run-flat version of its ECSTA MX during the second quarter of 2003. The Z-rated tire, called the ECSTA MX XRP, will be available in two sizes to fit Chevrolet’s C5 Corvette: 245/45R17 and 275/40R18.

The ECSTA MX was introduced in 2002 and is an ultra-high performance passenger car tire that’s based on Kumho’s winning Victoracer V700
competition tire. "The ECSTA MX XRP offers the same performance characteristics as the regular version of the tire," said Rick Brennan, high performance brand manager for Kumho Tire USA. "It’s particularly well suited for Corvette drivers who take part in high performance driving schools or autocrossing because it can be driven to the event, driven on the track and then driven back home."

The ECSTA MX XRP features massive tread elements for superior tread stability and grip under high loads, and the tread pattern was designed to optimize dry grip and minimize hydroplaning. The XRP features an advanced racing compound" developed on the Kumho V700" that provides extreme grip without excessive heat build-up. The XRP also features extra large rim flange protectors to reduce the risk of pothole and curb damage to alloy rims, as well as a dual seal bead profile to assure air retention under the most extreme lateral loads. Additional sidewall inserts and plies provide strength that enables the tire to be driven limited speed and distance with no air pressure.

They should be available this month and a reasonable price from Tire Rack,
245/45R17 KUMHO ECSTA MX XRP 158.00
275/40R18 KUMHO ECSTA MX XRP 217.00
