Default Kuhmo Ecsta MX

I had some Kunho Ecsta MX's installed last week. Drove home from the installer and the car sat for 5 days (rain). Drove the car Sat and the steering wheel shook so bad I thought a wheel was loose. Drove another 5 miles and everything smoothed out. Do these tires develope flat spots that fast, or did it do this just because they were new?

Yikes. I've had mine for 4 weeks and no problems at all. I did a lot of research and never read anything like that.

My goodyear eagles do the same thing if the pressure is too low and it sits for a while

Isolate the problem and get the tire replaced, the symptoms won't get any better. These are really good tires on the raod and on the track, but seem to tend to exhibit these symptoms. I had a problem with this on my C4 and I know of it on an Audi A8 running MXes as replacements. Be sure to take care of this soon, so that there may be a warranty to help you (Tire Rack will replace, no questions asked, for 90 days from the order date). A good tire shop can do a road-force variance test to help find the offending tire, but that alone may not be enough. If the tires are the same sizes F/R, try rotating them; if the shake moves from your hands to your butt, you'll have at least eliminated 2 tires as suspects.

I have read several stories on different boards about the MX's "flat-spotting" after sitting for a couple of days.

Seems to be common, but goes away after a few miles of driving.

I just had a set installed on my 93'.

It sat for about a week. Noticed a little bit when cold and went away in less than a mile of driving.

Sure hope this is not a problem for the winter. Sounds like I may have to jack the car up and put on stands.
