I need to pickup a set of tires for new rims VERY soon. I spotted these and was wondering if anyone has tried them yet. I figured it couldn't hurt to ask before shelling out $872 + shipping/mount/balance.
I was thinking of buying them for the GS.... Going to watch this post...

Don't know anyone that has them yet but I have a buddy that is fixing to get them. If you read the reviews on it at the Tire Rack it must be some kick azz tire. Ratings are through the roof 9.3 dry and 9.2 wet traction. Don't think you can go wrong on what I have read about the tire
Re: Eagle F1 GS-D3, who's tried them? (Corvette1996LT1)
I have them and I love them. I give them      They have an awesome look and handle very well. Also has great noise reduction. What other info are you seeking?
it has been many years since I could actually and honestly say that Goodyear builds a good performance tire .... I know you Z06 guys love the F1 Supercar tire but, it's more the car and not the tire. But, the drought has ended .... the F1 GS D3 is the real deal .... a tire that can not only compete with the best performing tires on the market but, in many cases beats the competition into proverbial dust ....
steering response = excellent
traction both dry and wet = superb
ride quality = well it's a peformance tire
feel at the limit = very progressive
value = well worth the money and even more
definitely a tire I have no problem recommending ....
Re: Eagle F1 GS-D3, who's tried them? (Luke@tirerack)
Luke,
Could you shed a little light possibly on the difference between the W, Y and Z speed ratings? I've grown up thinking Z at 149+ was always "the best" as far as all out sustained top speed. Have W and Y now surpased that?
*edit*
Then again reading this page seems to go into it some.
Also, I was going to get...
275/40/17 : Front
315/35/17 : Back
I noticed Goodyear is offering these in a 285/40/17 also. Would you recommend AGAINST this on the front? Would the extra 10mm make a huge difference in tracking on uneven roads that the added contact patch would not be worth it?
I bought them for my wife's Neon. She had the stock steel wheels with the 5 spoke hubcaps. Problem is that she needed new tires and the wheels were all rusting so bad that you could see it between the spokes.
Since I had recently plunked down a load of cash on HRE's for the Vette and the Navigator, I felt that it would only be right to get some "nice" wheels for her Neon. I ended up getting 17 x 7.5 inch BBS VZ relatively cheap (when you compare them with the HRE's) and mounted them on the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's.
I've only driven the car once since we put them on, but there is a remarkably noticeable difference. Then again, there was a notable difference when I went from Dunlop SP8000's to the Michelin Pilot Sports.
They recently had an article in one of the Vette or Corvette Fever issues several months ago with a writeup about them. It was in the same issue that had the wheel and tire upgrade writeups. If I remember correctly, they had nothing but great things to say about them. They were supposed to have unbelieveable wet traction as well.
the 285 in the front would reduce some of the understeer dialed into the chassis .... I wouldn't be opposed to that .... but, if you run any NCCC events I think that would knock out of stock class
Just got a set. 275/40/17 Front, 315/35/17 rear. I really like these tires Noticeable improvement in ride and noise vs. Bridgestone Potenzas. They also look superb.
So far so good. I'll let you know what I think after driving them a few weeks.
i just got them on last week. haven't taken it to an autoX yet, but i can say that they ride a helluva lot quiter than my old set, and can take on-off ramps a good 10mph faster, and with more confidence.
in the rain, can't tell much with street driving since i drive drive conservatively in the wet (too many encounters with ditches in the past). what i can tell you is that ASR almost never kicks unless you really nail it.
you might want to take my comments with a big grain of salt since my last set was the original GSC's.
Scorp, FWIW, I also ordered last Friday.
275/40YR-17
285/40YR-17
A bad alignment issue has toasted (i.e. cord showing) my left front GSC on the outer shoulder, and the backs are down to 2/32's (spirited driving
:D).
My choice (for the money) came down to these and the Firestone Firehawks. Public opinion ultimately swayed me. And, yes, I was running GSCs forever, so I'm in for a pleasant surprise.
Scorp, it's been a few months, how do you like them. I just got a price quote here for $1060, mounted, balanced, road hazard, and a 4 wheel alignment. I just need to find my wheels on E-bay again. :yesnod:
Location: If you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver. Senna
Re: Eagle F1 GS-D3, who's tried them? (scorp508)
I would have them on my car right now, if my Dad hadn't had some GSC's in stock for my car. The GS-D3 is an awesome tire, you will not be dissapointed!!!
