Default Well that looks stupid...guess I need tire advice

Since I have mods on my C5 and tire smokin' was a problem, I decided to chuck my stock runflats and get some wider Pilot Sports. Several people told me the biggest thing I could get on the stock wheels is the 295X35X18's.

OK cool...I thought. I didn't think I needed to change the front tire size so I replaced them with the same size Pilot Sports. What I have now is nice new 245X45X17 Pilots on the front and 295X35X18 Pilots on the rear. Cool...one would think.

So I smile real big, step back to look at them, and go DAYAM!!! That looks stupid!!! The sidewall height difference between the fronts and the backs is really noticable. Not only that but the wheel well gap over the rears is bigger than over the fronts too.

I checked the Michelin site and the Pilots do not come in a 245X35X17 size to match the rears. There is a 245X40X17 size but is that really gonna make much difference?

Anyone got any suggestions, please??? :cry

sidewall on a 245-40 17 is 3.86"
295-35 18 is 4.06"
245-45 17 is 4.34"

Yo Todd:

So what this means is that I could get the 245-40-17 and it would look correct matched with the 295-35-18s?

Please check my logic here. Since the 245-40s have a 3.86 sidewall and the 295-35s have a 4.06 sidewall, the fronts would even be a little smaller on the side than the backs. That should be OK since raked a little in the back looks performance-ish...right?

Please check me on this. I hate to make another mistake. I guess I'm gonna eat the cost of the 245-45s as it is.

I'm not sure what the "correct" look is, but yes a 245-40-17 will look a bit better matched with that 295. FYI...the z06 has a taller sidewall front than rear, although not bu much...4.17" to 4.06"

im sure you can sell those 245-45s on here pretty easily
