Default Is it possible to widen my stock rear wheels?

I'd like to run 345/35YR18's on widened stock wheels, but I'd heard that you can't widen the stock wheels for some reason (forgot why). So my question is this: Is it possible to widen the stock rear wheels? Thanks!

I dont know of a way to widen non-steel wheels. I know that Stockton Wheel does steel ones but I think thats it.

Of course, it's possible. But the cost to machine, weld, machine again, solution age, and x-ray the welds would far exceed the purchase price of a nice set of aftermarket (3-piece?) units.
Unless you absolutely HAVE to have the stock-look, why bother.
Just my $.02.

My 1995 ZR1 wheels cost $700. plus shipping to widen. If you need info on sources, let me know. One is in Michigan and one in New Jeresy.

I just want to widen the rear stock Z06 wheels by about 1", put a 1/2 inch spacer in there, and run the 335/30/18 $157 OEM Viper tires out back to get some traction. With 600+RWHP it's just annihilating the rears now, every centimeter of rubber I can get back there will help.

I was thinking of minitubbing it and going with 345s, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.
