New C5 Wheels, Many Questions
I just purchased a set of early C5 wide 5 spoke wheels, and while they are on their way here, I figured I would try to sort out the tire mess, but I'm unsure of what to do.
1. I have two 275/40/ZR17 that I want to use on on the front 8.5 inch wheels. I know it will be a tight fit, but I think they will work. Will they work?
2. I don't want to throw off my speedometer with taller tires in the rear, so I thought I would go 275/30/ZR18 to keep the overall tire diameter as close to stock as possible. But... would that look cooL?
I mean, would it look alright to have the taller sidewalls on the front, with the shorter on the rear? If I use 30s on the rear, should I go to 30s on the front for the best look, or is the difference between 30s and 40s unnoticable?
3. What 18 inch tires to you guys recommend? I don't need super high performance, I only want inexpensive and durable.
4. Is there anything I'm failing to consider?
You might want to do a search on tire width/sizes for C5 wheels; this has been discussed many times before. (I personally have no experience, though). Or you could post these questions on the C5 Tech/Performance Section: much more "action" on that sub-forum. Good luck.
My opinion is that 275s would be too big and too wide for the front rims. You can find used or even new Kumhos for <$600 and with stock sizes you will be much better off.
