Default Deciding on Tires (Help/Confused) !!!

I'm having a hard time deciding on tires. I've got a 2001 Z06. I don't road race. I take it to the drag strip a couple of times a year. I mostly go fast in a straight line and test my g-tech, but occasionally make a high speed turn here and there, and i'd better since I have a Z06. I live in Vegas so rain is almost never an issue, and it does get cold, but it's snows like once every 5 years.

So.. I'm ready to replace the fronts and the rears and can't quite decide. I would like the rears to be a little more grippy. The F1-SC's are very grippy, but it seems at the end of their useful life they lose quite a bit of traction, and they are quite noisy.

So, I heard some good things about the BF Goorich G-Force KD tire and was seriously considering that and also heard they are "grippier" than the F1-SC's, but I also had some Nitto DR's a couple of years ago with my Mustang that hooked very well, and worked pretty good on the street as well. If I went with the DR, however, I would be concerned about losing my handling capabilities and then no more high-speed curves (kinda a shame on a z06).

Then Todd sent an email saying BFG will soon be making an 18" drag radial. I was thinking if I really wanted to go fast, in a straight line, maybe I should go with that.

Lastly, I heard nitto made a road race tire, 555RII, and I haven't seen that anywhere.

Somebody straighten me out !!!!

The KD absolutely rocks. In this case you truly get what you pay for. You sound like me...enjoying every street light. Personally I cant live without my drag radials. I wont put anything else out back. Nitto was "supposed" to sell 285-35-18 & 305-35-18 555rII road race tires, but nothing else has been said about that so dont hold your breath. You wont beat the KD for an everyday grippy tire. It should give you as much life as the stock units, a better ride, maybe a bit louder, and definitly more grip.
