Can someone please recommend an installer for EMTs in the Westester / Putnam / border of NY and CT area for me?
It's a long story but the local people I've tried are a little sad and lacking in everything except the incredible amount of money they'd like in exchange for those round rubbery things for one's car.
Second question: Seeing as the local Goodyear shop couldn't help nor could they point me at one that could, how did the rest of you folks find somewhere to get yours mounted?
Edit: Well, I just answered my own question. Goodyear's web site has an EMT installer locater thingy. Damn, I should have tried that myself. Still, I'm open to a personal recommendations and local experiences should anyone wish to share them

i cant see why goodyear could'nt put the tires on thats where i had mine installed... as far as i know there the only authorized dealer to install goodyear emt's, even my chevy dealer sends the tires to goodyear. id try another goodyear dealer. goodluck

I had a Goodyear shop that was "EMT certified", but wouldn't mount tires on my CCW wheels. They told me that their machine might scratch them. They sent me to another GY store that was also "EMT certified", but with a newer machine.
Yeah, they installed the tires w/o scratching the street side of the wheels, but put a couple of small scuffs on the back side. IMHO it's partially the machine, and more so the man operating the machine.

Leadfoot has hit the nail on the head, which is where I was going with this post.
Initially I was hoping for some personal recommendations but I forgot to include the magic words like "Zaino", "someone scratched my baby" or "a Honda challenged me to a race" ;-)
So now I'm just happy to find someone that's in tirerack's list of recommended installers and, on the 'phone, seems comfortable with the job.
In terms of scratching, these are spare rims off a '99 simply for winter use so if he scratches them, I'll be upset but at least I'll know about it before I get new tyres mounted on the 2K2 rims which I expect to do in the middle of next year.
