Default My Son's Z28 Had Trouble With The Shock Mounts From The Tire Rack !!!

Boy was I mad .... we just put over 600 bucks in a super cool sport lowering kit for my son's Z28 Camaro with Eibach springs and 8 way adjustable KYB shocks (real cool), we also bought new shock mounts (a rubber mounting pad on top of the shock) which was recommended by the tire rack sales rep. The install was pretty straightforward. They supply a great set of instructions.

After about a week the driver's side was making a strange noise, sort of a popping noise. We removed the passenger's side tire and we noticed the shock had pulled through the mount.

Well this morning I spent 30 min. getting the papers out, writing down the dates, times,CC #,model #, amounts and all the important info. (All ducks in a roll and ready for battle.) I got on the phone and was ready to chew some butt.

You will never guess what they had the nerve to tell me, "Will Monday be OK or would you like them overnight and just make sure you send the old ones to us so we can turn them back in to KYB as a warranty issues."

All I could say was, "Yes ma'am, I sure will and Monday will be fine."

THE TIRE RACK ROCKS…. People, they stand behind what they sell. I sure know who I'm buying tires, wheels and suspension parts from in the future.  :seeya

Unlike some vendors Ive never heard anything but positive and glowing comments about the Tire Rack. They seem to truly undestand what customer service is all about. Ill be getting a set of Kumhos here soon and theyll definitely get my business :yesnod: :blueangel:

Any indication of why the mounts failed?? I replaced the shocks/struts on my '96 Z-28 last year, installed a set of Bilsteins, and reused the OE mounts. So far, I seem to be in good shape.

I'm thinking the the old bump stops that we had to use.. because everything else was new. We now have installed new set of GM bump stops with the new mounts that Tirerack sent.
While we had it apart we installed new the upper and lower ball joints, urethane control arm bushings and a real kick butt pan hard bar in the rear from RK Sports this Z28 now has a state of the art suspension and feels like it’s on rails.
In fact this sport lowering kit with the Eibach springs and 8 way adjustable KYB shocks makes my son's Z28 handle as well if not better then my 01 C5

Don't forget the trailing arm re-location kit ! I bought mine from Global West.
