Default Michelin Pilot XGTZ4 ZP - any experience?

My 2001 coupe is in need of new tires all around and I want to stay with runflats (I know, I know - there are a lot of reasons to get away from them, but they've saved my butt before and I'm a conservative type so I want to stick with them). I'm probably going to go with the original equipment Goodyears, but was wondering if anyone had input on the Michelin Pilot XGTZ4 ZP tires. I can't find much info about them.

I'd be interested to hear more about traction, treadwear, looks, etc. Thanks.

You are looking for info on a discontinued tire that will not meet your needs ... the info is not readily available because of the discontinued status. I would not suggest even considering that tire because of your location even if it was readily available. If it was my choice for a replacement tire I would get the Firehawk SZ50 EP runflats

Luke:

Thanks for the info. I kind of suspected that on the XGTZ4s but am glad to hear it from a reliable source.

I also sent you a direct e-mail concerning prices on the Goodyear original tires. Let me know if you didn't get it.

As to the Firehawks, I've heard some good things but also heard they are a little smaller footprint and I'm not so crazy about Firestones. I had heard something about Michelin putting out a new runflat for the Cadillac XLR and wondered if they would be making sizes to fit the Vette, but I havent' seen anything.

Let me know if you didn't get my e-mail outside of the Forum.

Michlen makes the Pilot Sport A/S ZP (All Season Zero Pressure) in C5 sizes. It is more expensize than the Firestones (which are made in Japan, and could therefor probably considered Brigestones) and the Goodyears. Yokahama also makes a runflat. All of the newer runflats are considered to make less noise and ride better than the Goodyears according to comments in the C5 Technical Forum and the General Forum.

Mozin:

Thanks for the info. I think I'll end up with the Goodyears or the Michelin A/S Pilot Sport ZP's. I don't like the idea of a narrower tire on the car (Firestones). I'm still waiting to hear from Luke at Tirerack.

I put the firestone firehawks on my car after I got rid of the oem goodyears. All I can do is praise them. Treadlife is good. Ride is much smoother and much quiter.

I've had the Z4 ZP's on for 3 years now with no problem. I don't understand the other post saying they are bad tires. I've got 20k miles and still plenty of tread left (7/32). These tires are way quieter than OEMs and better grip. I would use them again if I could find them.
