Well, I finally contacted the Tire Rack and ordered a set of Firestone Firehawks for my 98 C-5 today. I mentioned this forum and the guy didn't know what I was talking about, so I guess the forum won't get credit for the sale. I saved about $390.00 by going with them from the Tire Rack as opposed to buying them in my AREA ! Even if the local dealer charges $150.00 to mount and balance them, I'm still coming out way ahead.
What should I expect in making the change from Goodyear Eagles to Firehawks? I stayed with the runflat tires and the same sizes.
I ordered a set of Firehawks for my '98 from Tire Rack last Tuesday afternoon around 4:30. UPS delivered the tires Thursday afternoon. The local Firestone dealer couldn't get for 4 days!! Tire Rack saved me over $400.00 including shipping. I had one of their installers mount/balance the tires and do an alignment for me. Installer charged $95.00 for the mounting/balancing. I was able to stay with the car while they did the work and watch how they treated my car. Was very pleased with the way they handled my car.
Have only driven about 75 miles with the Firehawks but can tell a real difference in the noise level and ride. Much quieter and softer. I stayed with the runflats also. First impressions indicate that I am going to be happy with the decision. Good luck with your new tires!!
