Where once the 315-17 on 11 in rims was the widest/lowest profile tire for the street, now we have 335-18 with 13 in rims on the Viper, 345 widths in some sizes, and 19 and 20 inch wheels.
For a Vette looking for the widest/lowest profile street tire, what is the most high performance choice for a C4 and a C5? Is it still the 335-17 for the C4?
Can you fit a "Viper" tire (335-18 on 13 in rims) on a C4 or C5 with a little flare work, or is this a major project? With 400+ hp, an extra inch of rubber on the ground in the back would seem to be very useful.

Most Corvette purists cringe at the thought of flares but it's possible to run some mondo tires and wheels without them. A ZR-1 can handle a 13" wide rim with 345/35/18 or 345/30/19 tire if the wheel backspacing is just right. A C4 can handle a 12" wide rim with 335/30/18 tire with Grand Sport flares. A C5 can handle the above wheel and tire combos with mini-tubs.
