Radial tires for 69

I want to run red line radials on my 69. I have used a red frame marker in the past to convert white to red with good results. So far the narrowest WW I can find is a Michelin Symetry 215R 70 15. 215's are 26.5 diameter whereas the original F70 was 26.9. Is there a better size to approximate original tires in a red line radial? I am not concerned with super high performance tires. I just want competent tires for general driving with occasional bursts of speed on the interstate.

All 215's say they are for wheel widths of up to 7 inches. 1969 Vette wheels are 8 inches. Does that cause any real problems? I have run other 215R 70 15 radials for years with no problems I could see.

Consider 225/70s. There are more models available; 215/70s are okay on a 8" wheel, but 225s would be a better pick. The revs per mile for F70-15s and 215/70R-15s is 775; 225/70s are 760. Being as how your speedo/odo is likely a few percent optimistic, the 225/70s will bring it closer to dead on accurate.
