The Bridgestone spec sheet lists the diameters:
265/40-17: 25.3"
285/30-18: 24.8"
The Z06 SCCA autocrossers run the Kumho Escta DOT race tire as a rain setup using 275/40-17 front and 285/30-18 rear; they pretty much kick everybodies butt in the rain with that size combo. However, if the diameter difference is a concern, you could drop back one size up front for a closer fit without giving up much:
255/40-17: 25.1" diameter, 9.4" treadwidth
285/30-18: 24.8" diameter, 10.5" treadwidth
vs:
265/40-17: 25.3" diameter, 9.7" treadwidth
285/30-18: 24.8" diameter, 10.5" treadwidth
I'd say it's pretty much your choice.
ps: it's always better to use the manufacturer specs rather than a calculator, the size rating is an approximation at best. You can usually find the specs on
