Default Time for Skinnies! (C3)

I've decided it's time to go with skinnines up front on my C3. After careful consideration of form, function and style, I've decided I want to go with Center Line Auto Drag rims (Style 05) in a satin finish. (Yeah, some Welds are lighter, etc. But the Center Lines have a more "period correct" look for my car.)

Anyhow, I'm going to plunge into the fronts first and I have a couple of questions:

1. 15" x 3.5" or 15" x 5.5"?
The fronts will be replacing the rallyes full-time so I'm leaning toward the 15" x 5.5" since this isn't a full-time race car. But it isn't street-driven much, either--just weekends to the track(s). And even that may change pending smog check. :mad

2. What about backspacing? I don't want the thinner front wheels to be tucked up underneath the fender. I don't want them sticking out past the fender like a lowrider, either--I'd like to be able to get the outer rim of the wheels to be as close to flush with the fender lip as possible.

Anybody with Center Line Auto Drags on a C3 have advice?

I bought the Centerline 4.0" Warriors with the 1.75" B/S...they look correct in the wheelwells for spacing. With the new Warriors and Moroso DS-2 front runners I cut my wheel/tire weight to less than half. Centerline does not recommend using their 4" wide racing wheels for street use...

Deen, buddy. I don't know how to break this to you. But if you have aluminum Center Line Warriors, they do not have 1.75" backspacing. According to the salesmonkey at the other end of an ever-more amusing e-mail thread, it is impossible to manufacture aluminum wheels with 1.75" backspacing.

:seeya Dude! I am running Skinnies on my Vette...I had to use some wheel adapters to bring the front wheels out away from the brake calibers. :yesnod: I'm running 15x4 Weld Racing Rodlites! :D

1.75" backspacing up front would be perfect. But 2.25" backspacing with a 1/2" spacer would work, too.

Too bad about the Center Lines. I've always thought the Auto Drags looked really good on a '70s-era car.

Welp, decided to go with Centerline Convo Pros. Going to use 15" x 4" up front with a 175-15 tire.

Lucky me. I found the Convo Pros with the "impossible" 1.75" backspacing.

 Tech Line people...
