Default Need advice on mounting Chrome rims

I am ordering a set of Chrome z06 rims from nate at xtreme and now I need to find a shop that can mount them. I have several questions:
1) went by my local Goodyear shop and they quoted me $145 to dismount my emts from my current rims and mount them on my new chrome rims with wheel weights on the inside of the rims and sensors installed- they say they do them all the time- is this a far price?
2) I want to make sure that I get my rims mounted undamaged and with wheel weights on the inside- any other issues I need to know about?

Any hints or advise is surely welcome

Default Re: Need advice on mounting Chrome rims (davidsilverc5)

Just an FYI,

My Chevy dealer did the same thing for me--changed from the stock 2k high-polished C5 wheels to Z06 chrome wheels. The dealer did the transfer okay and the price probably even higher than you are being quoted.

The thing to watch out for isn't so much the mounting but the balancing. The Chevy dealer did a horrible job of balancing the tires by using "inside" weights--they didn't have the right equipment/person to do the proper balancing. I ended up going to a goodyear tire shop which had a good balancing guy. You want the self-adhesive wheel weights that go inside the center of the wheels--not on the side rim. A good "tape guy" as they called him was hard to find but well worth it. $40 for the self-adhesive center weights solved everything.
