Default Input on rain tires needed

Any input for good road race rain tires. My boss is looking for a set after getting hit with rain and only having his new Hoosiers at his last event. Thought I'd start here to help him. TIA -Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Get some opinions on the Hoosier dirt track tire. I hear several people recommend them for rain - don't think it's a dot tire if that matters.

I have found the Kumho Victoracers to do fairly well in wet (not standing water) conditions. I have never run Hoosiers, but several people have told me that the Kuhmo's are better than the regular Hoosiers in the rain.

The Firestone SZ50's are patterned after their Indy Car rain tread and are very good on the street. I have run them a few times in the rain on the track and they were suprisingly good. I would be very comfortable with the Firestones on a rainy lapping day.

I guess you will have to wait for the racers to see what they do in the rain.

Hi Jeff,

My son has Michelin Pilot XGT-Z4's 275x40x17" (all 4 corners). They are a terrific tire - BUT NOT CHEAP! They handle beatiful in the wet but he doesn't race his car - I believe Mr. Mojo runs the same tires and races too so he'll be able to provide better wet handling feedback!

See them at: :yesnod:
