Does anyone know if Hoosier or Kuhmo etc. has any plans to produce DOT "sticky" tires correct to the OEM Z06 tire size?
Under the current NCCC rules, regular C5 sized tires are not legal for low speed or high speed events in the stock class. Only Goodyear seems to be producing a DOT soft compound tire in this size. As far as I can tell, no one has any. It forces the car out of stock class, or into stock street tire class.
Re: Autocross Compound Tires correctly sized for Z06? (AutoXr)
AutoXr,
You might want to read the Spring 2002 Blue Bars page 20. There is a rulebook clarification on tires (November of 2000) to quote:
Q. When updating tires in ISH or IH are the tire sizes on each axle required to be the same configuration as came from the factory?
A. No! (vote 13-2)
Q. Can you mix the front tire of the regular C5 with the rear tire of the ZO6?On either the ZO6 or regular C5? (vote13-2)
A. Yes, if correct for axle.

It's good to hear that the rules were amended. I still would like to know if there are any plans to make a "sticky" Z06 tire size. The NCCC rule change potentially creates a larger market for the larger Z06 sized wheel/tire.
