Wheel sizing question

Sorry if this has already been answered, but I couldnt think of what I could search it under. What is the difference in the wheels between 84-current?

Are the bolt patterns different?
Is the depth of the wheel different?
Is it physically possible to mount a late C4 or C5 wheel on an '86 without an adapter (even if it will rub the wheel well)?
