Default Problem/question with aftermarket A mold wheels

I recently purchased a set of polished A mold wheels from Performance Wheel Outlet for my 96,(17 x 9.5's for the front and 17 x 11's for the rear)

I ordered (and received) the GS offset for the rears

The problem is that upon installing the rear wheels, I find I can't get the center caps to fit properly. The tip of the axel shaft extendes just far enough thru the wheel hub opening so that the cap actually hits the axel shaft.

In discussing this with Performance Wheel Outlet; their answer is for me to use some kind of spacer/shim between the wheel and rotor...

This does'nt seam right....any ideas/opinions??

That doesn't sound right at all. I had a set of AFS A-mold copies for a while (same sizes as yours). Didn't run into any problems with the caps.
Is it just a small amount that they don't fit? If so, maybe you can grind some material off of the caps to clear?
I'd avoid wheel spacers if you can.

The cap is thin plastic, not able to grind at all...I only need about an 1/8"....
Can I grind the axel shaft?

There is no way this should be the case. I have GM original GS wheels on my 95 and do not have this problem. Sounds like maybe the offset is wrong??

Owning a GMC Syclone, I know a lot of guys that have gone to these wheels on their Syclones-Typhoons and run into this same problem. They just grind the axel shaft , which is no biggie, as it doesn't cause any problems. HTH
