Re: Best Tires for Track & Street???? (DSchaefe)
|
My personal favorite is the Michelin Pilot Sports. Not too bad in the rain and not too bad on the track. After a few hot laps on a warm to hot day, the Pilots Sports tend to get greasy.
I hear that the BFG g-Force KD tires have better dry weather grip and they're more resistant to getting greasy on the track. I also hear that they don't grip as well as the Pilot Sports in the rain. I never used they KD's so I can't give you my personal opinion.
Some track guys that I know say the ultimate street/track tire ever made was the Michelin MXXX but they are now discontinued.
I have a set of Firestone SZ50's. They're not bad tires for the street. They do well in the rain, offer a quiet and comfortable ride. I have never really pushed or drove these tires on the track however, I don't think they will grip nearly as well as the Michelin Pilot Sports. Once in a while on a spirited take off, these tires seem to give up their grip a little sooner than the Pilot Sports.
Hope this helps
