Default Back spacing for c3?

I am getting the 2in offset trailing arms for the rear of the car. I want to put 10in wide wheels in the back. Do any of yall know the back spacing for this size wheel. How wide of a tire can I fit aswell?
Thanks
Adam

If I remember correctly, the OE 8" rims had a 4" backspacing, So, if you're going with a 2" offset trailing arm, I would think you could SAFELY put a rim on the car with at least another 1.5" of backspacing. So, maybe a 10" rim with 5.5" backspace? Maybe a 275/60/15, or 295/50/15 tire?

I know a lot of people go to 17" or 18" rims, to get both a wider tire, as well as the higher speed rating. However, and this is just my opinion, the smaller diameters of these tires look out of place on a C3, since the smaller tires don't fill up the wheel opening as well as the taller, 60 series tires did......

I think you are right. I want to run a 60 series on it and was hoping to maybe go as wide as a 305. I was looking at some 15x 10 for the back so it will have the widest tire I can fit under it. Thanks for the help.

You have to watch the rim/tire combination when going over a 5 inch backspace. Although you won't hit the trailing arm (with the relocated PB cable) depending on the rim diameter and tire sidewall you will find contact with the upper portion of the frame. Borrow some wider wheels if you can and measure. I have 16X13" rims with a 5 inch back space under ZL-1 flares on a 69.

So it may not be abad idea to do the wheel well flares aswell? If I did that how would the back spacing be then? I would not mind puting 325 on the back. Its going to get skinnys up front. so I want as wide as I can get in the back. Thanks

Same thing applies on the backside, anything over 5" you need to mock up first.

I ran 9.5" wheels with 275/40-18 tires with stock trailing arms and modified sway bars and 2.5" adapters. I notched the frame and installed offset trailing arms to mount 10.5" wheels with 295/35-18 tires and 2" adapters. That's six inches of backspace. Check my signature for the mods or search in C3 under Bee Jay.
