Default Thinking of switching 17x8.5 to 17x9.5 on front--Any problems?

On my next C4 (it will be '94 Copper), I am thinking of switching to 17x9.5 on the fronts so I can rotate tires. Any foreseeable problems with this? Does it have the same power steering pump as earlier models with same size front and rears? Thanx in advance for info and advice. :)

No problems at all; you can run 17x9.5 on all corners with 275 or 285 tires for very balanced handling. Of course what you really need to do is put those 9.5 up front and buy a pair of 11.0 for the rear :jester

As for the PS pump, I and many with later models run 315s up front with no probs.

Hey,
I will give you some information in the next couple of weeks. Just bought 9.5" for the front so 285's can be mounted on all four corners.

Happy Mardi Gras :jester

Baddmann wanted to update you since last post by myself,

Put some test miles on vette since the installation of 285's on 9.5" on all fours.

One thing I found out...the wider tires really find the road ruts ! On the interstate can be dangerous in my opion. Have to hold onto the wheel with more grip to fight the wandering!

One positive...steering turn-in has improved cornering.

I Wonder if 275's on the front would improve the wandering?

Good luck

I will see if an alignment can be found to lesson this anoyance.

I recently switched to 285 on all 4 corners, I was expecting the wandering, but I have none. The only difference I notice is it handles better in the turns and I have slightly more resistance in the wheel.

Springer

Just curious

What tires are you running on the front and what alignment specs?
