Wheel widening
Has anyone considered or have had their wheels widened? I have heard of this being done. Is it safe and also is it cost effective?
Thanks for your feedback.

Re: Wheel widening (dantos)
Wheels America used to do this at their Dallas location; seems to me it was $150-200 per wheel: http://wheels-america.com
These guys do it also for $200+ per wheel http://www.internetalternatives.com/wshoppe/wwiden.htm
Not really cost effective unless you have a specific wheel you just have to have and it's not available in the width you need.

Re: Wheel widening (gcrouse)
What ever you do, STAY AWAY from Wheels America. I sent them some wheels to be refinished and widened over 3 months ago, and they still have not returned them to me. I am ready to contact a Lawyer and atempt to get them back.

Re: Wheel widening (dantos)
Most widening if not all is done by cutting the back end of the wheel off and welding a new back end from another wheel on so the wheel looks the same from the outside but has greater backspacing. Impala SS guys have quite a few done and they are strong.
