I got into this conversation with someone else a while back. If you call your chevrolet dealer and ask for 1996 Grand Sport Wheels, he will ask you which finish, black or satin. I'm sure you're correct regarding the true 1996 Grand Sport, but my post was to seperate the "fake" wheels verses the higher quality wheels bought from GM. Regarding the price, the invoice for the fronts was just over 400 and the rears just over 420.
If you're an owner of a Grand Sport with black wheels, it's a great looking car and you're a lucky vette owner. If you're looking for wheels and can find your black ones for next to nothing, you should buy them. If you're not in the market, why the remarks? If you're just looking for an argument, talk to GM.:D
I am not trying to be a butt head. <smile> I would really like a set of satin GS wheels for my convertible. I have the AFS ones on there now -- but -- they were used when I bought them and since they are heavier than the true GS wheels I would upgrade if given a chance.
I can get brand new GS (black) wheels with lugs, lug covers, and center caps for $1200. Add about $375 for drag radials and then add $375 for something up front and you are at less than $2000 total for brand new stuff.
I just think your pricing is high -- at least for me anyway.
Is either track open Sunday for us slow guys? I'll be happy to show you the setup and if Mark is correct, I'll change the price. I can bring receipts.
This setup is unbelievablly better than stock. I'm now taking the next step. I ordered ET Streets with front skinnies from CCW who makes the wheels. :D I've also ordered LingenfelterHRE's for non drag.
Let me know if you want to meet. Sunday looks good for racing.
