Default Fitting new tires on my C3...

I've looked for some wheel and tire combinations to put on my 1975 Coupe. So far, I've come up with some wheels I like, but the size options are limited. Replica Alloys make "2000 Vette" replicas in 17"x8.5" and 18"x9.5". I'm thinking 275/40R18 tires on the rear and 245/45R17s for the front. BFG makes g-Force KDWs in these sizes that fit the respective wheels. I'm fairly comfortable with the fronts, since they are shorter than stock and less than an inch wider, but the back I'm not so sure about. Stock height is 27.4" and these are 26.3", but it's the width that might be the problem. Will they fit?

Compare section width. 255/60/15s with stock backspacing of 4.5" fit OK if you relocate the E brake bracket. Try to stay with tire diameter of 27" +/- or you will have too much space at the top of the tire to look good in the opening. Also, the smaller the diameter, to more your speedometer will be off.

Bronco Rider is running a set of eagle alloy's, series 212's, 17 x 9.5", 4.5" back set with 275 - 40 - 17 Kumo's tires from the rack on his 81. He says this is a straight bolt on and run project. He runs the car auto cross and wanted the car to handle. The 17" rim clears the emergency brake cable. Think he purchased the wheels from wheelsforless.com in Texas. His post said the cost was around 173.00 ea
