Default 1992 17x9.5 56mm how far in can I widen?

Have been asking a few people and got just as many answers so here's the question for those that may know, too. I want to widen my "STOCK" 92 wheels (not ZR1). How far in can I widen them before rubbing occurs? How much suspension clearance is advised? Any other issues you can think of. Thanks for your time and assistance :yesnod: :seeya
