Trying different Forums, general, autocross, drag racing. I need help with tire selection. This is technical and performance related. I like to drive at high speeds when available, taking curves fast, but would like to hook up a LOT better than I do with the run craps. 17x9.5 front 18x10.5 back, want a 295/35/18 out back. Do Drag radials work in the curves, what about an autocross tire for everyday use? Don't care about wear, 8 - 10,000 miles on the tires are fine with me. I want to drag race once or twice a year, so would like a tire that can hook up. I know. I've already said that. So that's it, hi speed, curves, drag racing, what tire do I get? Please help.........bob.

Based on what you've said, then the tire for you would be the Nitto NT555 R Extreme II
This is a drag radial tire/compound but with a stiffer side wall so you won't lose any cornering ability and has excellent strait line traction.
It is strongly recommended that you get the tires ordered heat cycled (at least for the rears) to give them a more even wear and longer tread life. and on a 10.5" wheel you can run the 305 in width and will fit just fine on the car and will look very tough.
Enjoy
there are a few goos choices but, much like shoes no 1 is a perfect fit that can do everything. I personally think the Pilot Sport PS2 is the most versatile option out there
1) Drag radials do not work well in curves. The reason is because a drag radial has a softer sidewall then a road racing tire enabling you to hook better from a dig. Since you only drag race once or twice a year it would be silly to get a drag radial. You would be much better off with a road racing tire for a daily driver.
2) If you like stability at high speeds, some wet traction, and excellent cornering ability then you can't go wrong with the sticky R compound Toyo R888 competition road racing tires. Especially if you have a high horsepower car. Since this tire is an R compound tire it will enable you to hook better than a regular performance tire like a Michelin Pilot Sport 2 which would be the best all around tire if tire wear was a greater concern and if you didn't have a higher horsepower car.
Based on what you are requesting...I recommend the Toyo R888s
