Default Tire and wheel replacement protocol

Hi guys. I'm getting new tires and wheels, and I was wondering what the protocol is, as I'm a total wheel/tire newb. So my question is, after mounting the tires to the wheel, the tire needs to be balanced before being put on the car, right? Then after the new tire and wheel is placed on the car, does it again need to be rebalanced while actually being on the car? Thanks.

Caunyd,

Not in my experience so far. My local shop uses a Snap On balancer with excellent results. I have seen posts on the Fourm with members having problems with certain wheel and tire combinations. Without serious issues the normal spin balancer off the car should work.

With the size and weight of Corvette wheels, there is so much rotating mass that it is hard physically to cause problems with the rotor only unless the rotor was seriously out of balance.

Hi

I suggest you fill in some info about you and your car in your profile - that way we can help out better with stuff that relates to your generation of Vette.

I was going to throw out some info about tire pressure sensors that might be a consideration depending on what car you have.

Bob
