Default Corvette wheel/tire specialist?

I checked the Tire Rack wheel selection guide for an 81 Corvette. No wheels listed. Mentioned this to a Tire Rack phone jockey and told them they need to do their home work, he hung up on me today.
"I am running 17 x 9.5" wheels with a 4.5" back set and 275 40 17 tires with out any modifications" and looking for another set of wheels for auto cross.
I work for a school district and did the research on my own.
Can you imagine having a wealth of tire and wheel information at your disposal and not using that information to increase your sales?

I am surprised to hear the TireRack telephone sellor hung up on you. They must be very busy lately because they have not answered my email from four days ago.

Any luck in your tire wheel research?
I have seen pics on this site some time back on nice looking Torquer II's (I think thats the name) sweet looking...anyone have info on these?
Or pics . I have also heard of some using an offset trailing arm for sweet extra wide suckers. Any info would be great. The Vette is away for the winter and I need to buy something fun because Spring is getting here soon :yesnod:

Mozin,
"I am running 17 x 9.5" wheels with a 4.5" back set and 275 40 17 Kumo tires "with out any modifications" Bolt on and enjoy.
These are a 5 spoke eagle alloy wheel purchased from wheelsforless.com. approx $173.00 a copy They look great. Wouldn't run any thing narrower. Kumo tires came from the Rrrr.... Rack. $113.00 a copy back then
The car handles like a Corvette should. I will post pictures once I figure out how.

I can't believe they don't have a way to search by bolt pattern and size. It's impossible to find a wheel you like and have any clue as to whether it will actually fit your spindle. They finally have a wheel that "matches" a '75 AND a graphic of a C3!
