Default New Rear Tires

Hey hey! I absolutely NEED to get my RR tire replaced. It's got issues to say the least. However, all of the other tires are in fairly good shape. I'm currently running Goodyear Eagle F1's all around.

I'm tempted to make the switch to non-runflats. But I don't want to replace more tires than I have to. Would it be weird to just replace the rears and leave the fronts alone?

Any recommendations on a good all-season, non-runflat tire?

Thanks!

Just a little advice...If you replace the rears, replace both, not just one.

I had some debris cut up one of my OE runflats when the car had maybe 2500-3000 miles on it. I replaced just the bad tire, but it appeared that the old myth of OE tires wearing faster than replacements seemed to be true. The new tire was wearing a lot slower than the OE, to the point that my posi unit wasn't happy with the increasingly differing ODs of the two tires. I could smell warm gear oil, indicating that the car thought it was constantly turning....

Well that doesn't sound very good! That's probably happening to me right now and I just haven't realized it! The RR is completely bald! I limped it home much farther than I should have on a basically flat tire. I gotta say, the runflat definitely got me home!! But now the tire is shot!

I'll definitely be changing both rear tires. But will it hurt to run two different types of tires in the rear than the front? Especially non-runflats in the rear with my existing runflats in the front?

The run-flats have VERY stiff sidewalls, which allow them to cope with "zero" air pressure. Therefore, they have their own unique handling characteristics.

You could replace both rear tires with another brand of RF with very little issue. Mixing RFs and non-RFs could give you some "unusual" handling, however I think it's been done.

Hmmm... any personal experiences with this out there? Don't want to buy new fronts if I don't have to.
