Default Luke, need some recommendations please

My brother has a 2006 Hyundai Sonata with alloy wheels. It currently has Michelin Energy MXV4 215/60/16s, which seem to be very good tires, but they're starting to wear down so he's going to need to replace them.
His biggest concerns are:
1) the ability to handle lots of water - it doesn't rain much in Dallas, but when it does...
2) heat checking. Some reviewers noted this tendency in these Michelins & the weather here won't help matters.
3) to a lesser extent, price. The Michelins he's got go for $169.00+.

I'd appreciate it if you could give us your top three recommendations.

Thanks!

I was hoping Luke would've seen this & replied. Does he still do that?
