Nitto has very few rear tire 18" sizes to choose from and it looks like Mickey Thompson has finally come out with quite a few rear 18" sizes (not the drag radials but street radials). Both are R2 compounds. Pricing is about the same for both but Nittos are are out of stock everywhere and Nitto cant even say when they might begin shipping again (poor way to run a company).
Anyone have any input on the MT's vs Nittos. I love my Nittos but it looks like a better contact patch with somewhat less channels in the tread design on the MT's.
Ok, well I just ordered the M/T's. Not gonna wait around for Nitto.
Summit said same thing to me on some sizes I was looking at would be next month and the Nittos they said it might be end of the year. I called my local Discount Tire outlet and they could get any size I wanted delivered to them in 2 days in Nitto or M/T so Ill have mine this week. Discount Tires online web site said they couldnt get them either. I guess individual stores have more pull with supplies.

I am just concerned somewhat as I tend to take to the back road twisties frequently and not sure if the M/T's will fair as well handling as the Nittos.
I have a pair of rears of both MT ET Steets and Nitto RII's for the rear.
I usually have the MTs on as normal daily driver rears, but sometimes get lazy from the track and leave the Nittos on. MT have more grip. They feel good on the twisties.
I ordered the M/T's yesterday from my tire place. If I don't like them its no big deal as the tire place also ordered me another set of Nittos as well and ill just buy those and throw em on.

Yeah, my motto is, why have one set of rears, when for twice as much money you can have two.
