Yeah....Makes race tires a lot cheaper to replace. Have a rear pair of Nitto RII's for the track and a rear pair of Micky Thompsons ET Streets for normal driving.

I think I might also have to consider getting a pair of 17s since my quest for C5 wheels on my 79 Cutlass is proving to be quite the challenge due to the rear tire prices..
Its hard to find anyone willing to donate old tires..

17" all the way around is the T1 spec. I run 315's on all four corners with no issues whatsoever.

what size tires are you guys using?

i have a 17x9.5's all around on my c4 and want to swap them over to the c5 but i know the stock 275/40/18's are taller than 275/40/17's and dont want to screw anything up.

You need an inch of rake to keep the ABS/traction control from coming on.

I think you mean to say that the rear tires need to be 1" larger in diameter, in order to keep the computer happy.

You can run a square set up and still have the ABS work. Many TT and T1 racers use this set up. Example 315/35/17 on all 4 corners. What is more important is to maintain the proper "rake" for the vette. Measured at the jacking points you will need a minimum of 1/4" difference front to rear and preferably more.
