Default Replacement center caps

Hello all,

I have a new 2008 convertible with Z06 style chrome wheels from a company called Factory Reproductions. These were purchased by the dealer and installed at the time of new car delivery. The center caps on these wheels are crome plated plastic and one of them has a broken tab that is used for holding the cap on the wheel. Needless to say, the cap now is no longer tight; it wobbles around a bit.

I might be able to get a replacement from the dealer or the wheel manufacturer, but plastic is still plastic.

My local dealer (not where I bought the car) wants $56 a piece for original 2008 Z06 wheel caps. $224 plus tax for these center caps seems kind of high to me.

Is anyone familiar with a another source for these center caps in chrome?

Also, any thoughts on what the unused stock 2008 wheels are worth? These are silver/aluminum 5 spoke wheels that came stock on the 2008 Corvette. Again, the local dealer says they cost $393 each for the fronts and $446 each for the rears. That's $1678 in basic stock, nothing special, wheels.

I would loke to sell these in my local area but wanted some opinions on what they might be worth.

Thanks for your help.

The dealer purchased wheel, dealer installs wheel, dealer breaks wheel, dealer is responsible to repair wheel.

I don't see where he said the dealer broke the wheel?

I'm also curious to know this since my wheels are by Factory Reproductions.

When you purchase a new Corvette it comes with a warranty! If the dealer purchases new wheels and installs them on your new car they should be covered under the new car warranty as well.

That's fine but in your other post you said "dealer breaks wheel"

The OP picked up his new car May 18 08. Hes owned a brand new car for about two months.Either the dealer installed a bad center cap, broke it upon installation or it spontaneously broke on its own(not likley). Whichever it is the dealer should be held responsible and if he holds their feet to the fire Ill bet they will do what they should.
